The ReCreations Emporium Needs Your Old, Obsolete, End of the Line, Flawed and Surplus Materials.

The ReCreations Emporium is Guelph's newest recycling initiative. We collect unique, exiting, one of a kind, cool materials that have artistic value from local businesses and community members. These materials, that would otherwise be landfilled, are then made available to the Guelph community for artistic purposes through the ReCreations Emporium Store. Memberships, that will save frequent users money, are available at the ReCreations Emporium office and store.

Goals:

• To foster creativity and inventiveness while helping to reduce the amount of waste that enters our landfills.
• To provide schools, the artistic community, and the public with alternative and affordable art materials.
• To promote public awareness and education on recycling, reclaiming, and reusing materials traditionally seen as waste.
  

Impact: Who will benefit and who will be reached?

• Teachers, Community Group Leaders, and the Public: will have access to affordable art materials.
• Students: will be made more aware of environmental issues through using reclaimed art materials.
• Businesses: can deal more responsibly with their waste while supporting community artistic programs.
• The Community: will encounter artistic uses for waste via the ReCreations Emporium’s examples of artistic uses for store materials and Art Jam’s Guerrilla Galleries that display art made with recyclables in the community.
• The Environment: will benefit from the diversion of materials from the landfill, and by the promotion of the idea of reducing the consumption of resources.
