Art Jam receives funding from Canada Trust Friends of the Environment Foundation

Art Jam and Guerrilla Galleries, an Artist and Community Pilot Project has recently been awarded $10,000.00 from the Canada Trust Friends of the Environment Foundation. According to Foundation spokesperson for Guelph, Heidi Pioveson, Art Jam and Guerrilla Galleries was a perfect fit for their funding criteria.

Art Jam focuses on using recycled materials for community and artist created art that is placed randomly as Guerrilla Galleries in Downtown Guelph. Art Jammers have painted on tires, doors, kitchen chairs, ceiling tiles; blinds, floor tiles, cupboards and just about anything else that is destined for the Wet Dry Facility.

Representatives from all six Guelph branches of Canada Trust joined in the Art Jam fun and created their own group work that is currently displayed in the downtown branch (corner of Wyndham and Cork St.) as a eye catching focal point for their Earth Week promotion. A second Guerrilla Gallery can be seen in the Eramosa Rd. Canada Trust Branch.

Art Jam and Guerrilla Galleries is part of Sue Richards' Artist and Community Pilot Project Award; one of four projects in Ontario to be granted funds in 1998.
