FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Art Jam expands to include Art Jam for the Schools program. Guelph Arts Council acts as trustee for one time financial award.

Students from Paisley Rd. P.S., Central P.S. and John McCrae P.S. have recently engaged in a new visual arts experience created by Art Jam. Art Jam for the Schools is a highly creative educational initiative that fits the current Ontario Curriculum requirements in an exciting way using paint and recycled materials.

Paisley Rd. P.S. Primary teacher Gail Bonthron had this to say about her classes' Art Jam: "This was a wonderful experience for the children to freely express themselves through painting and discussion using their imaginations and creativity."

Art Jam for the Schools has received a financial award for their arts education initiative presently running out of Torrance P.S. on Waterloo Ave. The Guelph Arts Council is acting as trustee for the awarded funds. Thanks to the Laidlaw Foundation for their support.

Art Jam for the Schools is part of Sue Richards' Artist and Community Pilot Project Art Jam and Guerrilla Galleries; one of four projects in Ontario to be awarded funds in 1998.
