The gallery concept came from a dream to turn a one-year project (Art Jam) into something that could continue for several years. The location of Torrance P.S. is the perfect space for any creative venture. The light, space, and uniqueness of a former public school brings out nostalgia in everyone who enters the building.
The vision for the whole school is to give Torrance and Art Jam in Guelph the same excitement that Harbourfront has in Toronto. The many classrooms with giant windows will be converted into artist studio space. On Friday afternoons the entire school, including ReCreations Emporium, Black Bird Baked Goods, and torrance gallery, will be open for the public; artists will be in their studios, working.
torrance gallery will focus on Guelph artists producing new and original artwork. |
